Hard Ings Road Improvement Scheme

Hard Ings Newsletter No 36

25 September 2020

Newsletter No 36. Week commencing Monday 28th September. Weeks 72 - 73. (First published Friday 25th September)

Welcome to newsletter number 36 providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley.

Progress, the past 2 weeks

The temporary contraflow traffic management system on Hard Ings Road has now been in place for approximately 12 weeks. This has been adapted to facilitate the progression of works but as we now near completion the system will be reduced and eventually removed over the coming weeks.

Works are continuing to progress very well on the southern flank of the scheme with all signs and lighting columns now installed and preparation for the remainder of final surfacing nearing completion.

The work to construct the central islands and associated infrastructure are now complete with just the signal heads to fix. Passers-by will now have a greater idea of how the area will look upon completion and will be hopefully be able to appreciate the vast improvements which have taken place here.

We have also been installing UTC ducting on Bradford Road and Aire Valley Road with traffic management measures in place on these routes too.

The next 2 weeks

We are pleased to say we are nearing the completion of improvement works to Hard Ings Road and Beechcliffe Roundabout, and we expect this scheme to complete in October 2020.

As planned, the final road surfacing successfully commenced on Monday 21st September and we will continue to progress these works over the next two weeks. We will then undertake white lining to the road and, finally, final surfacing to the footpaths and central islands. Please note we are implementing nightly lane closures while we complete these works - please see traffic management measures below.

Upon completion, motorists will be able to enjoy use of both lanes in each direction and pedestrians will benefit from the new signalised crossing facilities at Lawkholme Lane junction and Beechcliffe Roundabout. Lawkholme Lane junction will also be reopened to traffic.

Please note Beechcliffe roundabout will be landscaped by Bradford Council next spring.

As the scheme draws to a close, both Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council would like to thank you for patiently bearing with us throughout the duration of these works and we hope that you will soon be able to enjoy the benefits that this improvement scheme will bring to road users.

Traffic Management

Nightly road closures are now in place on Hard Ings Road in order to complete the final surfacing works and diversions are clearly signposted. Please note lanes will be closed on Hard Ings Road on the following dates (these dates are weather dependent and may change):

As always, these works have been planned with maximum focus on the minimisation of any potential disruption to the local residents and businesses alike. All traffic management plans and required diversions have been applied for and approved with advance advisory signs distributed throughout the area. Howard Civil Engineering and Bradford Council would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
