Social Value

Although the projects we help our clients to deliver have significant benefits and a positive impact for end users, we understand the construction process can be a challenging experience for communities surrounding these sites.

To help mitigate this, our team exhibits a proactive attitude to minimising potential disruption, including flexible working hours, low-emission machinery, and innovative working techniques.

We have always endeavoured to have a positive impact on the communities we work in. We strive to spend our procurement budget locally where possible, with the intention of supporting local businesses and employment, and we are proud to offer a helping hand to community groups, schools, and sports clubs.

Howard Civil Engineering also takes a proactive approach to hiring people from chaotic or disadvantaged backgrounds, and we are proud to be an Employment Partner of The Howarth Foundation’s ‘Business Building Futures’ initiative.

Trust us to give back

In 2021, Howard Civil Engineering contributed over £53,000 to charities, social enterprises, and community groups in addition to volunteering 54 working days!

Not only did dozens of Yorkshire-based charities and social enterprises benefit from our direct financial solutions and volunteering efforts, but a team from Howard Civil Engineering also braved the Tough Mudder 5K and raised over £2,100 for Mind in Bradford!

This year, we have set aside £60,000 to help our local communities and are aiming to volunteer 60 working days throughout 2022.

Giving back to our community
