In 2014, BAM Construction was awarded the contract to build a £14m school on the site of the former Don Valley athletics stadium in Sheffield.

The single building, which has created a facility for 1,200 pupils aged 2 to 16 and features a four-storey secondary school, a two-storey primary school and a central event hub, opened to school children in September 2015.

BACKGROUND

In 2014, BAM Construction was awarded the contract to build a £14m school on the site of the former Don Valley athletics stadium in Sheffield.

The single building, which has created a facility for 1,200 pupils aged 2 to 16 and features a four-storey secondary school, a two-storey primary school and a central event hub, opened to school children in September 2015.

The scheme was targeted a rating of Very Good through sustainability initiative BREEAM.

Howard Civil Engineering carried out the substructure, drainage and external works packages including S278 works to realign local roads and junctions and provide crossing points.
