RADIANT

Located just outside Leeds city centre, off Kirkstall Road, The Radiant is a multi-million-pound PRS (Private Rental Sector) development designed to offer stylish urban living through a mix of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments. Situated in a rapidly developing area, the scheme capitalises on the city’s growing demand for high-quality, centrally located residential accommodation. The scheme of more than 100 units was sold to Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) for £17.25m. The development enjoys a prime location with proximity to Leeds city centre, a wide range of public transport options, and major employers including Channel 4, HMRC, Leeds General Infirmary.

BACKGROUND

Developer KMRE appointed Hollycroft Construction as the main contractor, with Howard Civil Engineering selected to deliver a JCT Standard Building sub-contract  for a reinforced concrete (RC) frame package. Howard’s appointment followed a collaborative period of early engagement, where flexibility and transparency around programme management proved decisive. Despite delays in groundworks and piling (undertaken by others), Howard worked closely with Hollycroft to maintain alignment with the main contract programme.

The project required close coordination between multiple contractors on site. Howard’s proactive communication and clear interface management ensured seamless integration with other trades and subcontractors, particularly around core construction and formwork removal.

The constrained city centre site, combined with complex logistics, demanded precise planning and innovative working methods to ensure safe and timely delivery.

GERMANY BECK INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS

Works to deliver this complex junction of the A19 are now complete. The new junction was required to facilitate Persimmon Homes’ 650 unit residential development in the fields to the east, locally known as Germany Beck.

LEEDS GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Due to the merger of Leeds Grammar School with Leeds Girls High, it was decided to significantly extend the existing Leeds Grammar School site in Alwoodley to facilitate both boys and girls.
