Penny Pot Lane

Penny Pot Lane Newsletter 8

12 June 2020

Newsletter 8  First published Friday 5th June.

Welcome to newsletter number 8 providing you with information regarding the roadworks to Penny Pot Lane.

Progress, the past two weeks

We're pleased to inform you that works have been progressing well over the past two weeks. Ducting works within the footpath have been installed for the realignment of the cables and we are continuing works up the lane as planned with the installation of the surface water pipe work.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of dates for protection works to the high voltage cable within the footpath to the site entrance, as these works must be undertaken by a specialist contractor. We are hoping these protection works will commence Wednesday 10th June which will then enable us to re-align the kerbs and footpath. Please rest assured we are doing our utmost to ensure these works are carried out as quickly as possible despite the challenges COVID19 is presenting for both ourselves and our fellow contractors.

The next two weeks

If you are passing the site entrance, please follow the pedestrian signage and walkways in place (pictured below), and pass with care.

Please note that tarmac works on Penny Pot Lane for trench reinstatement will occur on Monday 8th June. Please read the traffic management plans below for information on how this may affect your journeys.

Traffic Management plans

The temporary traffic signals at the Persimmon entrance on Penny Pot Lane will be re-established on Wednesday 10th June for a period of 4 - 5 weeks. These will be manually operated between 7am – 7pm.

The temporary traffic signals on Penny Pot Lane from Ethelburg Est up to Youngman Drive are still in place for the surface water pipe connection which is progressing up Penny Pot Lane, and will remain in operation for approximately 2.5 months. Three-way lights on Ethelburg Drive will be removed Monday 8th June at 5pm and works will return to two-way for one week until Monday 15th June. Three-way traffic lights will be in place at Youngman Drive Monday 15th For 1 week until Monday 22nd June, when Penny Pot lane will return to using two-way until further notice.

Please rest assured that pedestrian and cycle access through this area will remain open at all times.

We would also like to politely remind everyone that the speed limit within the traffic scheme is 30mph.

A small number of cars passing our work area have been exceeding the speed limit. This is dangerous for our team on site and members of the public within the vicinity. Your compliance with the speed limit is greatly appreciated.
