Penny Pot Lane Newsletter 9

26 June 2020

Newsletter 9  First published Friday 26th June.

Welcome to newsletter number 9 providing you with information regarding the roadworks to Penny Pot Lane.

Progress, the past two weeks

Works are continuing up Penny Pot Lane as planned with the installation of the surface water pipe work. Please take a read of the traffic management plans below if you think these works may affect your journey.Works to the site entrance are progressing well. We are undertaking exploratory works to expose the existing high voltage cable in advance of the specialist contractor undertaking the diversion works. This will then enable us to realign the kerbs and footpath.

Please rest assured we are doing our utmost to ensure these works are carried out as quickly as possible despite the challenges COVID19 is presenting for both ourselves and our fellow contractors.

If you are passing the site entrance, please follow the pedestrian signage and walkways in place (pictured below), and pass with care.

Traffic Management plans
Temporary traffic signals at the Persimmon entrance on Penny Pot Lane will be re-established, however dates are yet to be decided. This is primarily due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19 and subcontractors experiencing delays whilst undertaking their sections of the works. Once the temporary traffic signals are in place, they will be manually operated between 7am – 7pm

The temporary traffic signals on Penny Pot Lane from Ethelburg Est up to Youngman Drive are still in place
for the surface water pipe/connection which is progressing up Penny Pot Lane, and will remain in operation. Three-way lights on Youngman Drive have been installed for two weeks until these works are complete.

Please note that road closure is scheduled for the 3rd August for four weeks. All access in to the estates will be kept open during the road closure, and affected households will be given further notices of diversion routes and access during this period via a letter drop.

Please be assured that pedestrian and cycle access through this area will remain open at all times.

We would also like to politely remind everyone that the speed limit within the traffic scheme is 30mph.

A small number of cars passing our work area have been exceeding the speed limit. This is dangerous for our team on site and members of the public within the vicinity. Your compliance with the speed limit is greatly appreciated.
