Background

Clifford Gardens is Bellway Homes’ new development of 118 2–5-bedroom family homes in Skipton.

Situated on the new Wyvern Park development which aims to regenerate a formerly neglected area of Skipton, Clifford Gardens is hoping to launch new homes for sale in spring 2022.

Howard Civil Engineering has been awarded a £6.3m contract by our new client, Bellway Homes, to deliver the plot works on this highly anticipated development including groundworks, drainage, and highways.

The site contains lots of highly contaminated material, and as such we have already been working alongside various contractors to offer an economical and environmentally friendly resolution to these hurdles including the management of contaminated materials and the installation of protective gas protection measures.

Scope

  • Delivery of the section 38 highways for adoption by North Yorkshire County Council
  • Installation of section 104 surface water and foul water drainage which includes:
  • Over of 2km of drains and over 100 chambers
  • Multiple connections to existing Yorkshire Water apparatus under a section 106 which involves working within the live highway
  • Management of contaminated and unsuitable material ensuring it remains fit for purpose and can be reused within our works.
  • Groundworks including foundations, private drainage, masonry to damp proof course, floor slabs, and external works to 118 dwellings
  • Due to the former use of the site, installation of robust gas protection measures (Amber 2) to dwellings
