Welcome to your first Newsletter providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley. Every fortnight these newsletters will provide you with an update on how the works are progressing and also anything we think you might find interesting to do with the scheme. We will also provide you with information on potential periods of increased traffic congestion and give advance warning of any changes in the traffic management layout or any footpath diversions.
This first week has been spent setting up our site compound which is based within the cricket club ground. We have laid stone as a solid hardstanding area and brought 2 of the total of 6 offices and stores containers onto site. Down towards the Bradford Roundabout end we have been clearing some fly tipped rubbish from the allotment area
You will not see a significant amount of work being carried out in the first few weeks. We are working towards installing traffic management to move traffic away from the footpath alongside Fibreline and United Carpets to provide us with a safe working zone to commence our widening works. This takes time.
We will be carrying out some further clearance of the allotment area and later in the 2 week period, moving into the Fibreline area taking down some of the stone walls which will be stored to rebuild them. Next week also sees us commencing drainage works near the subway of Bradford Road Roundabout and carrying out some trial holes to check for the location of services.
In order to carry out the works with the least disruption we need to maintain 2 way traffic to Hard Ings Road as much as we possibly can. In order to install the traffic management that will remain in place for the next 6 months we need to remove the 2 existing pedestrian refuges to provide an extra running lane for traffic. We need to install temporary traffic signals for the day to remove the refuges. To minimize disruption this will take place on Sunday 12th May and Sunday 19th May. This is likely to cause disruption to traffic in the local area. Therefore, unless you are visiting any business on the Hard Ings Road, which will all remain 'business as usual', I would advise to avoid Hard Ings Road for the following 2 Sundays.
We will also be coning off a filter lane heading towards Bradford Road Roundabout to commence our drainage installation. This is not expected to have much effect on existing traffic congestion.
