Hard Ings Newsletter No 13

25 October 2019

Newsletter No 13. Week commencing Monday 28th October. Weeks 26 and 27.

(First published Friday 25th October)

Planned lane closures on A629 commences Monday 4th November.

************DISRUPTION EXPECTED***********

Welcome to your thirteenth newsletter providing you with information regarding the Hard Ings Road Improvement scheme in Keighley.
We've had a run of really wet weeks and are therefore hoping for some crisp dry days in the weeks ahead so we can all dry out.

We've been pushing on with the extensive stone and blockwork walls around the Fibreland factory and allotment area.

The complex ramped and stepped sections require our engineer to be vigilant about making sure the gangs have the correct setting out information exactly when they need it.

The Gas diversion is coming to a close.
BT have commenced on site; moving and lowering some of their ducts and cables.
Contractors working for YW (Yorkshire Water) have been installing a bypass main down Byrl Street and have opened up a large excavation for connecting onto the water main in Lawkholme Lane.
This week they have just commenced the main diversion works starting at the Yorkshire Spring Mineral Water end of the scheme

The past week have seen several changes to the traffic management to Beechcliife Roundabout which has enabled us to carry out work to various areas.
The setts to Beechcliff Roundabout are now complete and we've commenced work on the central reservation realignment and the traffic island the opposite side of the roundabout.

Work for the next 2 weeks

Further phases of traffic management will be installed on Beechcliffe Roundabout this week. This should cause no additional disruption but please be aware that your usual alignment around the roundabout may alter from day to day.
We will be installing ducts within the existing footpaths around Beechcliffe Roundabout. This requires us to divert pedestrians off the footpath and into the carriageway for 3 to 4 days. The route will be securely fenced off from the traffic, fully signposted and have all the ramps necessary to enable you to get on and off the footpath.

The works to divert the YW main will continue up to Christmas

Temporary traffic signals on Hard Ings Road Sunday 3rd November.

Yorkshire Water have a crossing to undertake across Hard Ings Road.

Planned lane closures on A629 commences Monday 4th November.

******DISRUPTION EXPECTED ******

The postponed lane closures on the A629 approach and exit to and from Beechcliffe Roundabout will be put in place in the early hours of Monday 4th November morning and remain in place for many months.
The A629 lane closures will cause traffic disruption in the area, especially at peak times.
We would advise you to take alternative routes during this time, if possible, and also allow extra time for your journeys, both at peak times and throughout the day.
Please bear with us during this period of increased traffic disruption, necessary for the resulting long term improvements to your road network.
The diagram below shows which lanes of the A629 will be closed; the lanes closest to the central reservation. Please be aware that there will also be lane closures around the roundabout as usual.

Considerate Constructors site inspection

We received an inspection from the Considerate Constructors auditor 2 weeks ago. The site team received a very good score. We were complimented for our communication with the community as well as having a tidy looking site under tricky circumstances.
We've some points to improve on which we will follow up for our next inspection in 6 months time.

Affected bus routes on Lawkholme Lane

The following diversions remain in place by the bus companies previously using the now closed Lawkholme Lane junction.

Hard Ings Road/Lawkholme Lane, Keighley - P23 Steeton Primary

Route P23 for Steeton Village Primary School will have an amended route. There will be no pick up on Lawkholme Lane.
AM: the bus will start at the bus stop on Skipton Road at East Avenue (08:22) then along Skipton Road to Devonshire Street and the usual route thereafter. Therefore the bus will not operate along Lawkholme Lane.
PM: as per the usual route from the school as far as the roundabout at Skipton Road/Hard Ings then continue along Skipton Road (16:10 at East Avenue) toward Devonshire Street and the usual route thereafter.
Those passengers who usually board or alight at the stops at the top of Lawkholme Lane near Hard Ings are advised to use the bus stop on Skipton Road at East Avenue.
This amendment will continue for the duration of the works at Hard Ings or until such time the turn restriction is lifted.
