Welcome to your first Greengates Junction Improvement Newsletter

First published Wednesday 15th July 2020

Welcome to the first newsletter from Howard Civil Engineering providing you with important information regarding the Harrogate Road New Line (HRNL) Junction Improvement scheme in Greengates. Howard Civil Engineering are yet to start work on the junction, but we are very keen to introduce ourselves, our team, and our newsletters to the Greengates community.

Each fortnight, our e-newsletters will provide you with updates on progress and inform you of what you can expect to see on site over the next two weeks.

We will also provide you with information on potential periods of increased traffic congestion and give advance warning of any changes in the traffic and pedestrian management layout. This may include information such as the use of temporary traffic signals on weekends or night time works under potential road closures.

On-site works will commence on the 27th July 2020 and are scheduled to last for approximately 15 months. Howard Civil Engineering's initial works will be concentrated on the community garden area (P-Loop) adjacent the Asda car park and the southern flank of New Line where Farmfoods, Costa, and the residential properties opposite Asda are located. Our first operation will be establishing the site (including perimeter fencing and temporary accommodation) and implementing the required traffic and pedestrian management that will be designed to keep our operatives, road users, pedestrians and other members of the public safe. One of our specialist subcontractors will then undertake tree and vegetation clearance and Howard Civil Engineering will conduct further site clearance works and earthworks to the areas mentioned above before installing deep drainage for the scheme.

Due to the nature of the existing site, the complexity of remodelling and improving the junction, and the temporary traffic and pedestrian management measures required to build the scheme safely, please expect delays and disruption from the outset. It is likely that this disruption will continue throughout duration of the scheme.

In conjunction with our client, City of Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council, Howard Civil Engineering will always endeavour to mitigate any delays and disruption. However, your understanding and patience throughout the duration of the scheme is greatly appreciated.

We would encourage residents, stakeholders and other community members to subscribe to the fortnightly newsletter to remain updated with the evolution of the scheme. You can also visit City of Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council's website for further information and updates to the scheme here.
