Gateway 36 Newsletter No 1

21 January 2021

Welcome to your first Gateway 36 Newsletter
First published Friday 8th January

Welcome to the first newsletter from Howard Civil Engineering providing you with important information regarding the Gateway 36 development along Dearne Valley Parkway for our client, Harworth Group.

Each fortnight, our e-newsletters will provide you with updates on progress, traffic management and any potential disruption.

As you are probably aware, work commenced on-site in Autumn 2020 including the establishment of our working area and the initiation of large-scale earthworks. This newsletter is to inform you that we will be expanding our working areas as the works develop along Dearne Valley Parkway, and you can expect to see a greater presence of traffic management, pedestrian management, site operatives and construction operations adjacent or opposite your property or business over the coming months.

On Monday 11th January, we will commence work to construct a new access road leading off the existing Shortwood Roundabout on Dearne Valley Parkway into the second phase of the Gateway 36 development. Please note this will require the implementation of traffic management measures, including the temporary closure of the near side lane close to Shortwood Roundabout, to enable us to undertake works as quickly and safely as possible.

Once these traffic management measures are in place we will commence removal of the existing street lighting to facilitate the formation of the new access road, and begin work which will enable us to construct the new carriageway off Shortwood Roundabout including excavation, the installation of stone and drainage, and preparation of the area for the laying of kerbs and path edgings.

We expect these traffic management measures to remain in place until Summer 2021.

Should you notice an emergency regarding these traffic management measure out of standard working hours, please report immediately on 01724 848246 and a member of the team will attend ASAP.

On-site, work will continue to progress as we resume the installation of drainage to the western ponds.

Howard Civil Engineering, in partnership with Harworth Group and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, will always strive to carry out the works as efficiently and sympathetically as possible with safety for all parties being our main priority throughout. Some disruption, traffic delays and disturbance will be inevitable due to the nature of the work, but rest assured we will always endeavour to negate or mitigate this as much as possible. We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude in advance, to you all, for your patience and understanding throughout the duration of the works.
