Harrier Park

Client: MUSE Developments

Value: £0.7m
Location: Nottingham
Contract Period: 16 weeks
Contract Type:

Howard Civil Engineering has been chosen to deliver drainage diversion works on the site of the former RAF Hucknall airfield in Nottingham. These works will prepare the site in advance of it being sold to a housebuilder.

Expanding upon existing new home developments and business parks on the Harrier Park site, these new homes aim to “create a new piece of townscape” which will “create a transition between the surrounding residential areas, countryside and employment uses through a number of townscape elements.”

Once complete, the scheme will have delivered over 900,000 sq ft of commercial space and over 700 mixed-tenure homes.

These works form part of various section agreements with Severn Trent Water (S104 and S185) and will involve close liaison and coordination with both the water authority and the landowners.

This is our first scheme for MUSE Developments, who have continued involvement within the area and the existing residential developments at Harrier Park.

Scope:
  • Removal of all existing drainage within the site boundary and installation of new drainage systems.
  • Excavations to lay new drains up to 1050mm diameter, new manhole chambers up to 2700mm diameter, connections into existing live manholes, and removal/reinstatement of existing drainage runs.
  • Supervision of UXO (unexploded explosive ordnance) when excavating.
  • Maintaining flows to ensure the existing drainage infrastructure remains operational.
